By joining the CFN network, you align yourself with a leading commercial fuel card and branded cardlock network.

To be profitable in today’s economy, businesses must keep a watchful eye on every expense. The CFN Commercial Fueling Network® offers fleet managers and business owners a level of purchase controls, site access, and security that is unparalleled in the industry.

CFN gives you – as an independent Petroleum Marketer – the opportunity to offer your customers a branded fuel card that provides nationwide acceptance. CFN cards can be used at any CFN or Fuelman site across the U.S.

Maintain complete control and build fuel sales
As a CFN Marketer, you have complete control of your customer portfolio. You set the fuel price at your sites and when your customers use other sites on the CFN network. You also make money when any of the over 1.9 million CFN cardholders fuels at one of your locations.

Nationally recognized brand
CFN is a nationally recognized brand and a market leader in cardlock fueling. Our innovative approach to customer engagement and commercial fueling continues a long history of industry success coupled with a consistent networkwide offering.

CFN’s brand recognition provides your business a gateway to existing and prospective customers.

How We Work

CFN provides fuel card authorization, transaction processing, cardlock site branding, and reciprocal site access for independent Petroleum Marketers.

As a reciprocal network, CFN enables you to purchase fuel from other CFN Marketers when your customers fuel at their locations. Conversely, you sell fuel to other CFN Marketers when their customers fuel at your sites. Transfer payments for fuel exchanged on the network occur every 10 days. The reciprocal exchange of products with other Marketers allows you to sell a branded fuel card accepted at CFN sites nationwide.

There are five types of CFN fuel transactions.

  • You set the fuel price

  • Margin based on the retail spread between the wholesale and retail prices in the market area where your site is located
  • No credit to carry
  • No billing to administer
  • More customers = more volume

Marketing

We help you market your fuel card business and sites
Through our annual Marketing Program, we solicit local fleets and business owners on your behalf. The campaigns tout both the advantages of your CFN card offering, and the value of the CFN network.

With CFN’s site network, it’s easy to build a loyal customer base
When your customers venture outside your service area, they are encouraged to use one of more than 2,000 CFN fueling locations nationwide. If a CFN site is not convenient, your customers have access to over 65,000 retail sites via the Fuelman network. You receive a daily report showing where your customers fueled, and the amount and type of product they purchased.

Established Customer Base
Once your sites are branded, you have the added benefit of 1.9 million CFN cardholders being directed to your locations through our Site Locator and mobile apps.

Site Types

CFN works hard to maintain the integrity of the network and the coverage it provides for our cardholders. We are always looking for new locations and great Marketers to grow with!

Plus, CFN gives you the opportunity to co-brand your retail sites as CFN under our CFNNET program. This gives you the ability to expand your proprietary network of CFN sites and have more Domestic transactions.

CFN Cardlock Network Site – A CFN Cardlock Network Site is a commercial automated fueling location which has been approved by CFN through the site registration process. CFN Cardlock sites accept all valid CFN FleetWide, CFN PAY digital cards and 3rd Party fleet cards, and process transactions through CFN approved point-of-sale (POS) equipment.

CFNNET Site – A CFNNET site is a retail fueling location owned and operated, or exclusively supplied by a CFN Marketer. CFN approves such sites through the site registration process. Fuel and related products can be purchased at these sites using the CFN FleetWide card and settled through the CFN Network. A site must be Fuelman accepting before it can be added as a CFNNET site.

CFN Ghost Site – A CFN Ghost Site is a Cardlock site approved through the site registration process. CFN Ghost Sites only accept valid CFN cards issued by the Marketer to which the site is registered.

CFN Private (Captive) Site – A CFN Private Site is a Cardlock site CFN approved through the site registration process. This site is also referred to as “Captive”. CFN Private Sites are not open to the public and provide for private use by a single customer’s CFN cards on private property. Private or Captive sites are primarily for the purpose of servicing governmental accounts or large commercial accounts with onsite fueling facilities.

Extended Network Site – An Extended Network Site is a retail fueling station that sells fuel to the public through an electronic point-of-sale system that is connected to the Fuelman Network.

Our Process

As a CFN Marketer, you’re in the commercial fuel business for yourself, but never by yourself. Our team is with you every step of the way. It starts with completing a new Marketer application. Once we’ve received this, we’ll assist you through each step of the approval process.

NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT
A Non-Disclosure Agreement or confidentiality agreement is a formal agreement between us whereby you the prospect and CFN agree to confidentially share information about our respective businesses. We require this to ensure we understand your specific business case and needs.

DISCOVERY CALL & VALUE PRESENTATION
This is a call to get to know you and your management team. The CFN Account Manager will walk you through a series of CFN videos and presentations to give you a rundown on who we are, what we do, and how it’s all done to give you the confidence and information you need to evaluate the CFN opportunity.

WHERE YOU MARKET
We evaluate new site opportunities based on the distance from existing CFN locations per the Area definitions below.

PROXIMITY TO NEARBY CFN SITES (BASED ON DRIVING DISTANCES):

Local Area – Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) > 1 mile
Local Area – (Non MSA) 2 miles
State / Rural Highways > 5 miles
Interstates > 10 miles

PROSPECT DUE DILIGENCE & VALIDATION
Getting feedback from existing CFN Marketers is one of the most important steps you can take to judge how happy you’ll be with CFN. They’re your best source of information about what really happens in the day-to-day business of commercial fueling. Ask what they like and dislike, and if they’re happy with the support and services they receive from CFN. Gather a variety of opinions to get a clear picture of the CFN system and our entire organization.

NEW MARKETER APPLICATION
This is one of the key steps in the CFN Marketer evaluation process. CFN requires your completed application for a credit review. Click here for the online application.

INTERVIEW WITH CFN
Once the application is approved and the CFN prospect has decided to move forward with the purchase, a conference call will be scheduled by the Account Manager with a key member of the CFN Leadership team. The applicant will be asked specific questions to ensure they have done their due diligence and receive answers to any questions they still might have.

IMPLEMENTATION & MEET THE TEAM
An overview of the project plan, stakeholders, timing and tasks will be reviewed with your team. We will schedule regular calls to ensure tasks and timelines stay on track for setting up your CFN fuel card program and activating your sites on the network. There are a lot of moving parts and we help you by assigning a dedicated implementation manager who will guide you through the process. You will meet with your implementation team via regularly scheduled conference calls.

TRAINING ORIENTATION
Now that you are a CFN Marketer, the next step is to get you trained as a CFN card issuer. Your Implementation Manager will help coordinate training on the CFN back office system. There are certain system functions that you’ll need to become very proficient with to setup new accounts, bill your customers and manage your sites. We are here…not only to get you started, but provide support along the way. Plus, pre-recorded webinars are available any hour of the day – 7 days a week. It is ultimately your responsibility to make sure that you are being trained at a pace that is right for you and that you have the information needed to run your CFN business.
